Gardens in the Fulda Monastery Complex Everything's Green

The (garden) landscape in and around Fulda is as diverse as the city’s history itself. Whether public or hidden away, these preserved and well-maintained gardens share a common origin: Inspired by medieval monastery gardens, they continue to shape our gardening culture to this day.

How many seasons are there, really? Are there four, or ten, as some people say? This year, our events celebrate the horticultural seasons, which, according to Karl Foerster—a German perennial breeder and garden philosopher—are these seven: early and high summer, fall and late fall, winter, early spring, and spring.

Let yourself be surprised and enjoy theater, readings, and small concerts with friends and family in gardens and at locations that highlight the distinct aspects of the seasons in and around Fulda.

Find the experience that’s right for you, and you’ll see: Everything’s in the green!
